WORKSHOP

We function as a scalable and fully operative team

The Yoda Press Workshops is a one-of-its-kind endeavour to reinvigorate author support and publishing training. The workshops are conducted by senior publishing professional and Founder-Publisher of Yoda Press, Arpita Das, and the aim of this endeavour is twofold: to help authors get their manuscripts (whether trade or academic) ready for publication whilst advising them on how to approach publishers with consummately written book proposals; and to mentor young editorial professionals in the publishing industry.

Participants Speak

'The sessions on micro-editing were really insightful. The sessions on proof reading were also very helpful and a very good reminder of all that we are told early into learning a language but tend to forget as we grow older. One of the great things about the workshop was that everything that was “taught” was also demonstrated through examples, hence as a participant it felt like, we had tried our hand at different processes in editing a written piece.'

Anubhuti Patra, Freelance Writer

'I absolutely loved the energy in the group, and so it has to be said, that my experience of the workshop owes much to the select bunch of writers who found their way into the workshop as much as to any other of its components. More than anything else I enjoyed the spontaneity that the space allowed for thoughts, ideas, feelings and associations to be birthed and built in their own time. Very few places can return your mind to you like this, and for that, I congratulate Yoda Press with all my heart and appreciation.'

Epsita Sandhu, Independent Researcher

'A back to basics approach. It was more a discussion-led workshop which made the class more interactive. I have never attended such a chilled-out workshop.'

Ridhima Kumar, Commissioning Editor, HarperCollins

'The exercises that were framed by the instructor were particularly engaging and helped bridge the gap between academic and creative writing, to make the writing much more powerful.'

Priya Joseph, Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology

'Special attention was given to each of us which is what one wants from such a workshop. I'm grateful for the genuine advice I received.'

Susma Sharma Gurumayum, PhD scholar
